The Miami County Boomerang Sisterhood grant application deadline is August 27. This year, the organization has $4,500 available to grant to local nonprofits.

The Boomerang Sisterhood draws upon the wisdom and resources of Miami County women to create a better community through charitable giving.

Each member pays $120 in annual dues. These contributions are pooled with other members’ donations to annually grant monies to Miami County charitable projects. The group directs 50 percent of the annual contributions to grants, and they invest the remaining 50 percent in an endowment fund with the Miami County Community Foundation. The fund will grow forever and benefit Miami County indefinitely.

Since 2008, the Boomerang Sisterhood has awarded nearly $37,000 to local nonprofits in order to improve the quality of life in Miami County. Former recipients include the Peru Public Library, Ole Olsen Memorial Theater, Harvesting Capabilities, Junior Achievement, Peru Little League, United Way of Miami County, and many more.

To apply, visit https://www.nicf.org/miami-county/grants/ and scroll down to “More Grant Applications.”

Applications will be reviewed by the Boomerang Sisterhood’s grants committee. The committee will select four finalists, all of whom will receive a grant. Finalists will present to the members of the Boomerang Sisterhood at their annual social, held on September 26 in Peru. Members will then vote for the organization they most want to support, and grant amounts will be determined by the votes.
